Bethany Beach Storm Update #4 (Evacuation Orders)

So, it’s about 8PM on Saturday night and the Governor (Markell) announced a manatory evacuation of coastal communities at 5PM today.  We are supposed ot be out of here by 8PM Sunday (tomorrow) night.  The Bethany Beach police have been going door to door to urging people to leave.

Here is announcement from the Town of Bethany Beach:

AT 5:00 PM TODAY, GOVERNOR JACK MARKELL ISSUED A MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER, EFFECTIVE 8:00 PM, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27THFOR THE TOWN OF BETHANY BEACH. THE GOVERNOR HAS ORDERED THAT ALL RESIDENTS EVACUATE THEIR HOMES BY 8:00 PM TOMORROW, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28TH.

A LIMITED STATE OF EMERGENCY HAS BEEN DECLARED AND TRAVEL HAS NOT BEEN RESTRICTED AT THIS TIME.

SHELTERS WILL OPEN SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28THAT 12:00 PM AT:

Indian River High School, 29772 Armory Road, Dagsboro, DE.

Cape Henlopen High School, 1250 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.

This is an extremely dangerous storm and should not be taken lightly. Please make plans to evacuate your home no later than 8:00 pm Sunday, October 28th.
